FPR Final Showdown 2011
December 30, 2011
Theme Song: Ozzy Osbourne - "Hellraiser"
PRESTORY: The Beautiful People's problems with Daizee Haze and Serena Deeb have continued as of late. Serena Deeb's quick victory over Brittney Savage saw her come so close to beating the clock but it was not to be. As it were, Brittney took the opportunity to make a challenge to a six woman tag on behalf of TBP. Serena and Daizee accepted, aligning with Ayako Hamada, who also came close to beating the clock, for the match.
6 Woman Tag Team Match: Madison Rayne, Maryse, & Brittney Savage def. Daizee Haze, Serena Deeb, & Ayako Hamada (25:10) when Brittney pinned Daizee after the BKO
AFTERSTORY: Major statement made by Brittney Savage, who more than made up for her prior loss in a big win for the Beautiful People over three of FPR's top women. TBP continue on their path and plans to dominate the division.
Octagon Championship Match: Bob Sapp def. Rickson Gracie via 2nd Round KO (0:55) with a reverse powerbomb to RETAIN the championship!
PRESTORY: Sara Del Rey pinned Kelly Kelly in a competitive but mostly one sided bout back at Halloween Havoc. They rematched in Beat the Clock where Kelly came a lot closer to the win and took a lot of punishment but Sara was still able to get the win. Now, Kelly challenged Del Rey to a third match and hopes to prove that she can in fact beat Del Rey!
Sara Del Rey def. Kelly Kelly (14:47) with a fallaway slam hold
AFTERSTORY: Kelly's ambitions were not to be as she was unable to get the win. Sara Del Rey proved supreme for the third time in an impressive victory that will move her up the ladder.
Chris Jericho came to the ring next in protest of Stone Cold Steve Austin getting the title shot after beating the clock .Jericho continued on until he was interrupted by the legendary Hulk Hogan! Hogan and Jericho went back and forth which set up an impromptu match with Hogan promising to beat Jericho out of the arena!
Chris Jericho def. Hulk Hogan (10:55) with a hurricarana
AFTERSTORY: A very impressive victory from Jericho as he defeated Hogan in relatively short order. Perhaps a direct shot at the number one contender, Austin, who downed CM Punk in just 8 minutes to beat the clock.
PRESTORY: Ayumi Kurihara had the performance of her FPR Career at Survival of the Sickest. One who didn't take too kindly to it was Yumi Ohka, who debuted in that match on the opposing team. Ayumi eliminated Ohka and as a result of it, Yumi challenged Ayumi to a one on one bout!
Yumi Ohka def. Ayumi Kurihara (20:08) via Bloody EX submission
AFTERSTORY: What a match it was! This match ended up being a somewhat unexpected showstealing match of the night. Ohka and Ayumi went at it with literally everything in their arsenals from the big moves to the top rope dives to the springboards. After twenty minutes of battle Yumi was able to lock Ayumi in submission and get the major victory. A much better outing for Yumi than her debut and a performance that will propel both higher in the ranks.
PRESTORY: During the women's tag beat the clock, two teams that met in the ring were the Knight Dynasty vs Nikki Roxx and the returning ODB. The match was an all-out brawl that didn't beat the clock and the two teams continued fighting past the match ending due to time. They fought to the back and a rematch was signed for Final Showdown!
The Knight Dynasty def. Nikki Roxx & ODB (45:22) when Saraya choked out ODB
AFTERSTORY: An unbelievable war this was that neither team could seem to win until 45 minutes in. The Knight Dynasty finally were the victors when Saraya viciously choked out ODB. All four involved looked impressive in the ring as the Knights move on in the tag ranks.
International Championship Match: The Big Show def. Drew McIntyre (8:01) with the running elbow drop to RETAIN the championship!
PRESTORY: A continuation of sorts of the classic Road Warriors/Freebirds rivalry. After what went down at Survival of the Sickest, The Freebirds challenged Hawk and Animal's two partners from that night - the Power Warrior & Genichiro Tenryu - who were more than happy to accept the challenge.
Power Warrior & Genichiro Tenryu def. The Fabulous Freebirds (21:30) when Power Warrior pinned Hayes after a lariat
AFTERSTORY: And The Freebirds challenge proved to be not so wise. Power Warrior dominated the 'Birds and secured the win for his team!
PRESTORY: In the exciting rivalry between Nevaeh and MsChif, the mysterious Winter has become increasingly involved. As a result, Nevaeh and Winter agreed to meet one on one in the ring at Final Showdown! Nevaeh has defeated MsChif but would she have the same luck against Winter?
Nevaeh def. Winter (25:32) with a high cross body
AFTERSTORY: Nevaeh continues on her roll indeed with a very impressive victory over Winter in what was an awesome match. With Nevaeh now overcoming both MsChif and Winter, she can only move up in the crowded womens' division
PRESTORY: The Great Muta returned from a two month hiatus to battle Terry Funk in Beat the Clock, however neither man was able to gain the victory. The match though was filled with an intensity that made management and fans alike want to see a rematch so that's what was made for Final Showdown!
The Great Muta def. Terry Funk (9:28) with the Moonsault
AFTERSTORY: Muta's time off must have done him good as he was able to put Funk away with a deadly series of top rope moonsaults. Muta walked away the victor but Funk is likely not done with Muta. Both men will compete in January's Royal Battle match.
PRESTORY: As mentioned at Eve of Destruction, Madison Eagles has refused to take time off to await her title shot. Eagles has continued to face everything head-on and wanted a match for Final Showdown so that offer was accepted by Eagles' longtime rival, Jessie McKay in what would be a rematch from September's Queen's Cup Finals! McKay has continued to be more and more impressive but Eagles has proven dominant time and again.
Madison Eagles def. Jessie McKay (16:03) via STF submission
AFTERSTORY: Madison Eagles does it again! A great back and forth match saw Jessie come close but in the end it was Eagles using a submission enroute to victory. Madison Eagles gets her shot at the women's championship next month at the Royal Battle in what promises to be a long-awaited, highly anticipated bout.
Up next, FPR Worlds Tag Team Champions, The Midnight Express came to the ring. The Midnights brought out their associates, Dennis Condrey and Dr. Death Steve Williams. Not only were the Midnight foursome successful at Survival of the Sickest, but Dr. Death & Condrey were the team to beat the clock as a part of their plan to ensure the Midnight Express would keep their titles and not even have to defend them. Eaton and Lane talked up their plan until they were interrupted by The Fantastics. Tommy Rogers had his ribs taped from the match they lost to Condrey & Dr. Death after receiving multiple Doctor Bombs on the outside of the ring. The Fantastics argued that they deserved a title shot based on their performance at Survival of the Sickest but Lane and Eaton felt that the Fantastics would have to win a match first. The teams argued until they were interrupted by recent title challengers, Jiggle-O James Johnson & Julian Caesaro. Johnson and Caesaro wanted a rematch with the champions after coming so close last month. Eventually, the two challenging teams started to argue amongst each other until the Midnight Express proposed the idea of those two teams facing each other in a contender's bout which they were more than happy to agree with.
Julian Caesaro & Jiggle-O James Johnson def. The Fantastics (21:52) when Johnson pinned Rogers with a victory roll
AFTERSTORY: Caesaro & Johnson pick up the big win! Tommy Rogers' injury came into play as he got caught with a victory roll. With the victory, they will get a rematch against the tag team champions at the Royal Battle in January.
PRESTORY: After a loss to Rey Mysterio at Eve of Destruction, Dean Malenko vowed to beat the clock and that's exactly what he did. Malenko scored a quick victory and earned a shot at the junior champion - Ultimo Dragon.
Junior Championship Match: Ultimo Dragon def. Dean Malenko (9:22) with a victory roll to RETAIN the championship!
AFTERSTORY: Ultimo retains and continues to be a strong champion. Malenko was highly upset with the loss and plans to earn another shot with the Super J Cup approaching in February.
PRESTORY: At Eve of Destruction, Mr. Hughes put down the Undertaker in a phenomenal war between the two big men. Hughes seems to have been proving to be the one man that the Undertaker could not overcome. At Final Showdown, Kane would stand up for the Undertaker to battle Hughes.
Kane def. Mr. Hughes (8:41) with a powerbomb
AFTERSTORY: A flicker of the lights and the sound of a gong was all it took to distract Hughes long enough for Kane to capitalize in a major way. Kane becomes the first to defeat Mr. Hughes. It's certain that the Undertaker is not gone for good and also that Hughes is going to want revenge.
PRESTORY: The ongoing rivalry between The Divas of Doom and The Canadian Ninjas has been very back and forth. The fans voted Beth & Natalya in at Cyber Saturday as they went on to win the titles in a classic match but the Ninjas regained the gold just a week later at Halloween Havoc in a Bunkhouse Rules match. Last week around at Eve of Destruction, Beth & Natalya regained the titles and now the Ninjas would challenge one more time - this time in 2/3 falls!
Women's Tag Team Championship 2/3 Falls Match: The Canadian Ninjas def. Beth Phoenix & Natalya (43:42) to become the NEW Champions!!
*Nicole pinned Natalya with a northern lights suplex (22:37)
*Portia pinned Natalya with a victory roll (21:05)
AFTERSTORY: The Canadian Ninjas did it again in rather dominant fashion surprisingly enough by gaining two straight falls over the Divas of Doom to become champions one more time. This rivalry has been one of the most back and forth in recent memory. With the Ninjas' two fall victory, FPR management will make a decision on whether or not there will be another rematch shortly.
PRESTORY: At Eve of Destruction, Abdullah the Butcher and Raven put on a hardcore classic that saw Abdullah just barely retain his championship. After that match, Raven's Flock ambushed the Butcher leading to Raven's most recent hire, Perry Saturn driving Abdullah through lighttubes. Many were left in shock at Saturn's display and from there it was the beat the clock where Saturn made another statement. Saturn destroyed Tommy Dreamer in quick fashion and nobody could beat his time, earning Saturn the title shot he clearly wanted against Abdullah at Final Showdown!
Hardcore Deathmatch Championship Match: Abdullah the Butcher def. Perry Saturn (10:17) after a samoan drop on a bat to RETAIN the championship!
AFTERSTORY: Abdullah somehow managed to overcome the intense challenge of Perry Saturn. Saturn fought hard but Abdullah was able to put him down to retain the championship. After the match, Raven appeared at the entry way with W*NG Kanemura and motioned to Abdullah that W*NG would be the next to challenge for his championship..
PRESTORY: Last week at Eve of Destruction, Gail Kim and Victoria tore the house down in their headline attraction that saw Gail Kim become the new women's champion. It was up to beat the clock to determine her first challenger. First it looked like it would be Ayako Hamada with a quick win but Serena Deeb managed to edge her out by a few seconds and the match was set to be Gail vs Serena but in the last challenge, it was Victoria once again destroying Jessica James in 8 minutes to beat the clock and get her rematch with Gail. It was clear that Victoria was determined to win back the title and she was not going to go away easy. And so it was set to be Gail vs Victoria II at Final Showdown!
Women's Championship Match: Gail Kim def. Victoria (13:42) via Christo CRITICAL to RETAIN the championship!
AFTERSTORY: Another spectacular match that could have easily been the main event of the show as Gail proves her win was no fluke and defeats Victoria to retain the championship. After the match, #1 contender Madison Eagles entered the ring and went face to face with the champion. The tension was at a high as the anticipation grows for the Women's Championship showdown that will take place at the Royal Battle, Gail Kim defends against Madison Eagles!
PRESTORY: Stone Cold Steve Austin dismantled CM Punk in 8 minutes to beat the clock and earn a shot at John Cena's worlds heavyweight championship. Cena had the night off at Eve of Destruction but Final Showdown did not look good for Cena.
Worlds Heavyweight Championship Match: Stone Cold Steve Austin def. John Cena (6:55) to become the NEW Champion!
AFTERSTORY: And it was indeed a bad night for John Cena as Stone Cold Steve Austin made short work of the champion to begin his second reign. Austin now holds the gold and will be the one everyone's gunning for.
