FPR Redemption 2010
May 22, 2010
Theme Song: Jack Off Jill - Fear of Dying
(Side Note: I was able to find my gamebridge disc and these matches were recorded though I still no longer have Nero VIsion to put highlight videos together, if I do buy it again or somehow retrieve it, a video may be put together at a later date but I did not feel that it's possibility should hold up the results as it may not happen any time soon. So, I figured it would be best to just release the results and keep everyone up to date.)
PRESTORY: Last month, Rob Van Dam won an 8 man battle royal to secure the final spot in the King of the Ring tournament. RVD pinned Eddie Edwards to win that battle. Edwards was furious at the loss and that he lost his shot at KOTR. Edwards returned the following week and cost Van Dam his first round match against Sting. RVD and Edwards would then meet in a tag team match where the Nightmare Express defeated the American Wolves. Edwards challenged RVD to a one on one match at Redemption and the bout was on!
Rob Van Dam def. Eddie Edwards (18:09) with a backslide
AFTERSTORY: A great match that made for one hell of an opener as RVD continues to get the best of Edwards. Both men were applauded for their performance on this night.
PRESTORY: The Beautiful People's business over the last several months has been well-documented. Last month at Breakout was the first official time that Angelina Love opposed her former stablemates in an eight woman tag team match. This month, Madison and Maryse challenged Angelina to team up with Victoria for a tag team match because they wanted revenge on Angelina for leaving them behind. Angelina and Victoria accepted the challenge which would be the first time they had teamed together in a regular tag team match.
Madison Rayne & Maryse def. Angelina Love & Victoria (15:31) when Maryse pinned Angelina with a sunset flip
AFTERSTORY: The Beautiful People did as they promised, they came out victorious! Angelina looked to finish off Maryse, but she countered with a very impressive sunset flip from the top rope. Angelina was certainly caught by surprise and it appeared that Victoria was as well as she did not enter the ring to make the save. Angelina was visibly frustrated following the loss and was quick to leave ringside.
PRESTORY: The Big Show has dominated the scene since winning the International Championship. Big Show retained over The Undertaker at WrestleMania and since then has not had a number one contender. Without a contender and ready to defend, Big Show decided that he would hand-pick an opponent to challenge him for the FPR International title!
International Championship Match: The Big Show def. Maven (7:50) via submission with the Colossal Clutch to RETAIN the championship!
AFTERSTORY: Big Show made quick work of his selected opponent in Maven. Maven gave a good effort but it wasn't enough to topple the Giant. Following the match, Jakob Furis came out from the back and made his intentions known: he is challenging The Big Show to a match for the International title next month at his signature show, FPR Bloodlines!
PRESTORY: Jiggle-O James Johnson & Julian Caesaro and Robert Evans & Matt Palmer have been two teams that have been at each other's throats over the past few months. Things only escalated in the Real World Tag League when both teams received the exact same score from their amount of victories. A challenge was made to settle their score against one another in a tag team match at Redemption!
Jiggle-O James Johnson & Julian Caesaro def. Robert Evans & Matt Palmer (19:01) when Johnson pinned Palmer with a tiger driver
AFTERSTORY: A big victory for Caesaro & Jiggle-O who may have proven to be the better team with their win over their longtime rivals!
PRESTORY: Two months ago at WrestleMania, Jessica James and Claudia met one on one. Jessica is looking to move further and further in the womens' division in FPR while Claudia has been intent on not letting that happen at her expense. Claudia defeated Jessica in a competitive battle at WrestleMania but Jessica was not going to give up easy. Jessica trained harder and challenged Claudia to a rematch to take place at Redemption! Claudia accepted in hopes of assuring that Jessica does not climb the ladder any further than she has.
Jessica James def. Claudia (19:55) after a spin kick
AFTERSTORY: Jessica gained the big victory and pinned the former women's champion! A definite classic match as both women went back and forth, that could have easily gone either way. Jessica managed to pick up the victory and it is likely that they will meet in the ring again sometime in the near future.
PRESTORY: Throughout the month, the 4th annual Real World Tag League took place. Four blocks of 16 separated 64 teams to determine who would come out the best. The Block A winners were the reigning FPR Tag Team Champions, The Latin American XChange. LAX came out on top among the top 5 which included The Funks, Jericho and Spoiler, Naked Man & Dino, and former tag champions Team 3D. LAX scored a total of 26, only suffering two losses in the entire league thus far. LAX would face the winners of Block B, the Powers of Pain! The Powers of Pain emerged out of nowhere, overcoming Block B's top 5 which consisted of the Freebirds, The Von Erichs, Undertaker & Kane, and the Miracle Violence Connection. They scored a total of 24 and would meet the tag team champions here in the semi-finals where the winners would go on to the finals!
Real World Tag League Semi-Finals: Latin American XChange def. The Powers of Pain (17:54) when Homicide pinned Barbarian with a rolling prawn hold
AFTERSTORY: LAX were once again successful and would now have to wrestle two more times, the RWTL finals as well as their scheduled tag team title defense. LAX would hope to become the first ever reigning tag team champions to win the Real World Tag League.
PRESTORY: Following last month, Candice Michelle and Hamada both felt they were in position to be the best. Both women respected one another and agreed to face off in a one on one match. Lacey Von Erich heard the match was being made and she was still looking for revenge on Candice for causing her very first defeat at WrestleMania. Lacey got herself into the match to make it a triple threat match. Candice has been long known as the Best in the World, Hamada has been improving since day one and Lacey Von Erich believes that she is the best there is. Now all three would meet in the ring!
Triple Threat Match: Lacey Von Erich def. Hamada & Candice Michelle (19:53)
*Hamada pinned Candice (19:03) with the Hamada Driver
*Lacey pinned Hamada (19:53)
AFTERSTORY: And Lacey steals the victory! Hamada pinned Candice with her patented Hamada Driver and before she could regain composure, Lacey attacked from behind, not allowing Hamada to fully get back to her feet and made the pinfall. Lacey celebrated as if she had just become champion while Hamada was in disbelief, as was Candice on the outside. Lacey, despite how she may get things done, continues to be a force in the division.
PRESTORY: Continuing the Real World Tag League, Block C was won by Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli. Hero and Claudio came out on top in a star-studded block over top 5 teams that included the Road Warriors, Sting & Luger, as well as multi-time champions The Midnight Express and The Briscoes, who would receive a tag title shot later on. Hero and Claudio definitely made a bold statement with their Block C win with a total of 24 points. Block D was perhaps the most unpredictable as the underdogs of the league, The Doom Thug Empire, shocked everyone by winning the block with 26 points, tying LAX for the most. The Doom Thugs gained the #1 spot over both Giant & Super Strong Machine as well as the Outsiders. Nobody expected them to make it this far but they made it to the semi finals and were on to face Hero & Castagnoli!
Real World Tag League Semi-Finals: The Doom Thug Empire def. Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli (22:41) when Chance pinned Claudio with a styles clash
AFTERSTORY: In what would almost have to be considered a major upset, The Doom Thug Empire has come out more dominant than ever before in FPR! They seemed determined to get a shot at the tag team titles as they were now on to the finals. But there they would face the Latin American XChange, a team they have never been able to defeat!
PRESTORY: In February, Brian Pillman defeated Yoshi Tatsu to win the Super J Cup tournament. The victory made Pillman the number one contender and he would go on to win the FPR Junior Championship from Frankie Kazarian at WrestleMania. Pillman has held onto the title thus far and a couple of weeks ago, Yoshi Tatsu defeated Kazarian, AJ Styles, and Kofi Kingston in a fatal four way to become the #1 contender and have a rematch with Pillman from the J Cup finals!
Junior Championship Match: Brian Pillman def. Yoshi Tatsu (13:08) with a backslide to RETAIN the championship!
AFTERSTORY: Pillman retains and continues enjoying his great reign thus far. Who will step up next to challenge for the junior championship!
PRESTORY: In WrestleMania's showcase battle royal, Bill Goldberg pinned Mike Foxx to win it. Foxx was irate that his road to victory was brought to a halt. Goldberg looked to make it his return to the top and entered the King of the Ring tournament. Foxx, however, got wind of Goldberg's plan to enter and attacked him, taking him out of the tournament. Foxx ended up taking Goldberg's spot. Goldberg announce he would return at Redemption and wanted Foxx in the ring one on one!
Bill Goldberg def. Mike Foxx (16:53) with the Jackhammer
AFTERSTORY: A great back and forth battle saw Goldberg gain his revenge and put Foxx down with the Jackhammer. Foxx was helped to the back afterwards as Goldberg looks to continue his path of destruction.
PRESTORY: After Mick Foley came out on top in his heated rivalry with Randy Orton, he waited for his next challenge. At an FPR live event, Foley said he was going to take on any and all comers. He said he was putting the hardcore title on the line anytime against anyone. His challenge was answered by Tiger Jeet Singh who promised that he was more hardcore than Foley and would take his title. Foley accepted and the match was on!
Hardcore Deathmatch Championship Match: Mick Foley def. Tiger Jeet Singh (19:43) after a tackle to RETAIN the championship!
AFTERSTORY: Tiger Jeet definitely took Foley to the limit and by the end of it, both men were covered in blood. Tiger Jeet nearly succeeded several times in choking out Foley. As Foley got to his feet, he was attacked from behind by Mr. Pogo! Pogo beatdown Foley until being forced off as it appears Foley's open invitation is being taken very seriously as new challengers continue to arise for the hardcore deathmatch championship.
PRESTORY: Last month, Stone Cold Steve Austin won the 2010 King of the Ring tournament. Austin's biggest rival as of late has been Chris Jericho. Jericho swears that had he faced Austin the KOTR, Austin wouldn't have won. Jericho challenged Austin so that he could prove to the world he should be King of the Ring.
Steve Austin def. Chris Jericho (14:22) via Stunner CRITICAL
AFTERSTORY: Jericho looked dominant in this match as he controlled the majority of the match but in the end Stone Cold caught him out of nowhere with the Stunner that ended the match effectively. Jericho has since begun accusing Austin of cheating to defeat him. The way it looks, Jericho isn't going to stop until he overcomes Stone Cold, no matter how he has to go about doing it.
PRESTORY: The Real World Tag League finals was set earlier and it turned out to be a match that has taken place many times included two WrestleManias. The Latin American XChange against the Doom Thug Empire. Both teams had equal scores in their blocks and made it to the finals. LAX look to become the first ever team to win the league while being the tag team champions, while the Doom Thug Empire hoped to defeat the team they have never been able to beat!
Real World Tag League Finals: The Latin American XChange def. The Doom Thug Empire (19:17) when Homicide choked out D-Money
AFTERSTORY: LAX did it, they outlasted 63 other tag teams and became the first ever reigning champions to win the League. LAX stake their claim as the best while they had to quickly prepare for a title defense against the Briscoes, being billed as the last chance final showdown between the two teams who have had a year's worth of rivalry and hatred.
PRESTORY: Mark Henry shocked the world when he won the Octagon championship from Bob Sapp at WrestleMania. Henry thought for sure that he had put an end to Sapp for good but Sapp announced he would return for his rematch at Redemption!
Octagon Championship Match: Bob Sapp def. Mark Henry via 2nd Round KO (2:14) with a german suplex (7:14) to become the NEW Champion
AFTERSTORY: Sapp does it again, as his story always goes. When he loses, it's almost certain he will regain his belt in time. Sapp returns to his throne as king of the octagon in hard-fought battle.
PRESTORY: At WrestleMania, The Great Muta came out of the field of 8 with the Money in the Bank briefcase. He won the match with a devastating Moonsault from the side of the cage onto Jushin Liger. Liger looked to prove himself in a different way among the heavyweight ranks by entering the King of the Ring. Liger impressed many and made it to the semi-finals before falling to the eventual winner. Liger challenged Muta to a match for Redemption and Muta accepted. Muta promised to continue his path to the top and take out Liger in the process.
The Great Muta def. Jushin Liger (13:07) after a piledriver
AFTERSTORY: Muta finished off Liger with a piledriver and looked to continue his attack after the match but was forced off. Muta's mean streak continues as he defeats Liger.
PRESTORY: The feud between LAX and The Briscoes has been on and off for the past year. The last several months they continued to trade the belts back and forth again and again. It was believed that this was to be their final bout, however if the Briscoes were to win, LAX would have a guaranteed shot from winning the Real World Tag League. If LAX were to win, they would have the following month off from title defenses.
World Tag Team Championships Match: Latin American XChange(c) def. The Briscoes (19:35) when Homicide pinned Jay with a sitout DVD to RETAIN the championships!
AFTERSTORY: And the night ends for LAX with a clean sweep! LAX won three matches in one night, proving they may indeed be the greatest tag team in FPR. The Briscoes may be out of the title picture for now and it's unknown who will challenge LAX next as they will have time off from their defenses to enjoy with their tag team titles as well as their Tag League trophy.
PRESTORY: At WrestleMania, Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger defeated D-Generation X on their third and final attempt. The stipulation to that match was that the losing team would be forced to disband. In that match, Swagger pinned Michaels at a point in the match where everyone expected HBK to kickout. Triple H was in disbelief as DX had come to an end. Later that night, Michaels would return and interfere in the CM Punk vs Hulk Hogan match on Punk's behalf. Michaels revealed he had re-aligned with his former stablemates, CM Punk and Austin Aries. Michaels helped Punk win the World Title just like they had attempted to do at the very first WrestleMania. The following month at Breakout. Generation sXe challenged Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart to find a partner for a six man tag. Hogan and Hart caught them by surprise when they revealed their partner to be Triple H! HHH was obviously furious at Michaels' decisions and actions. That match ended with Hogan's leg drop on Aries and now it was time for Triple H & Shawn to meet one on one!
Triple H def. Shawn Michaels (10:21) after a knee to face drop
AFTERSTORY: Triple H got a huge measure of the Redemption he wanted here! HHH pinned Michaels in a relatively short match to put Generation sXe at 0-1 for the night.
PRESTORY: In February, Bret Hart pinned CM Punk in the main event of Valentine's Massacre on the Road to Wrestlemania. Following the match, Aries attacked Bret and Punk showed his true colors by aligning with him. Aries and Punk beat down Bret which led to a one on one match at WrestleMania between Aries and Hart. Aries picked up the win there but Bret wasn't happy at all with the loss. They met next in the six man tag at Breakout and aftewards, Bret challenged Aries to meet him in a submission match at Redemption!
Submissions Match: Austin Aries def. Bret Hart (22:05) via submission with the Rings of Saturn
AFTERSTORY: A great back and forth battle, Aries just wouldn't quit. Aries forced Bret to pass out finally and put Generation sXe at 2-2. A huge win for Aries as he continues to prove Punk right when he said he had saved Aries and brought him back to his old dominant ways.
PRESTORY: The feud between Alissa Flash & Maria Menounos has been a long, well-documented one. Things escalated last month at Breakout when Alissa became the new women's champion with a shocking, controversial, three way victory over Gina Carano and Menounos. Following the victory, Carano opted to take some time off, leaving Menounos as the number one contender to her biggest rival's title. Alissa's first defense was set for Redemption against Maria, as she hoped to vanquish her rival while Menounos title aspiriations grew stronger!
Women's Championship Match: Alissa Flash def. Maria Menounos (16:21) after an elbow to RETAIN the championship!
AFTERSTORY: Another classic back and forth matchup between these two but in the end Alissa proves dominant and reigns supreme. Alissa is having a very impressive year as it didn't take her long from her debut to become champion. Menounos will remain in the picture but for now it looks like Alissa may be accepting a new challenge in June, though who exactly remains uncertain at this point.
PRESTORY: CM Punk won the Royal Battle in 2010 to guarantee a worlds heavyweight title shot at champion, Hulk Hogan, come WrestleMania. At Mania, Punk pulled off the unthinkable, putting an end to the 8 month reign of Hulkamania. But it was not without help, as mentioned above, Punk's title win was aided by both Austin Aries and Shawn Michaels. Generation sXe had reformed and appeared stronger than ever, especially with Punk as champion. However the trio were trumped at Breakout by their rivals in Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, and Triple H. The six-man win ensured that Hogan was more than deserving of his rematch at Redemption! On the road to Redemption, CM Punk went 1 on 1 with Randy Savage and pulled off a very impressive win, this time single-handedly in a near 20 minute match. Punk wanted to use that match to send a message to Hogan and Hogan heard it loud and clear. The rematch would finally take place at Redemption!
Worlds Heavyweight Championship Match: Hulk Hogan def. CM Punk (8:43) after a piledriver to become the NEW Champion!!!!
AFTERSTORY: Redemption received! Hulk Hogan battered Punk from pillar to post and put him down to once again regain the FPR Worlds Heavyweight Championship! This time, Punk tried to go at it alone but Hogan trumped him in the end. Hulkamania runs wild again as Hulk Hogan is Worlds Heavyweight Champion once more! Hogan finished the night with his traditional celebration and posedown around the ring as he once again wore the FPR Worlds Heavyweight Title
